The assessment and examination system at Government Higher Secondary School, Kandi, Kotranka is conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 as adopted by JKBOSE and SCERT Jammu. The evaluation process focuses on continuous learning, competency-based assessment, and holistic development of students.
Academic Term Structure
The academic session is divided into two terms – Term-I and Term-II.
Term-I covers 50% of the prescribed syllabus.
Term-II covers the remaining 50% of the syllabus.
Both terms are assessed through Formative Assessment and Summative Assessment.
Formative Assessment (FA)
Formative Assessment is conducted continuously throughout the academic year to monitor students’ progress and learning outcomes. It is an integral part of classroom teaching and learning as per NEP-2020.

Summative Assessment (SA)
Summative Assessment is conducted at the end of each term to evaluate students’ overall understanding and achievement of learning outcomes for the respective portion of the syllabus.
Term-I Summative Examination: Based on the first 50% of the syllabus.
Term-II Summative Examination: Based on the remaining 50% of the syllabus.
Question papers are designed to assess knowledge, understanding, application, and higher-order thinking skills.
Question Paper Pattern
As per NEP-2020 guidelines, the question papers include a balanced mix of objective and descriptive questions to discourage rote learning and promote conceptual clarity.

Evaluation & Result
